The following local students have been awarded this outstanding academic achievement in the Spring 2019 semester.

Students with a quality point average in the range of 3.300 to 3.599 for a semester's work were recently placed on the Deans' Commendation List. The following students from your area have been placed on the Spring 2019 list:

Hayley O. Malloy won the James B. Petersen Archaeology Award from the Department of Anthropology at the University of Vermont. This award is named for Dr. James B. Petersen, a UVM graduate who later returned as a faculty member and Chair of the Department of Anthropology. The Petersen Award is presented to the graduating senior with a sub-disciplinary focus on archaeology who best exemplifies Jim's passion forarchaeology.

Ithaca College congratulates all May 2019 graduates.

Loyola University Maryland recognized the class of 2019 at its 167th Commencement Exercises on May 18, 2019.

More than 830 students have been named to the spring 2019 Dean's List. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must have carried throughout the semester a course load of four or more graded credits with an average of 3.5 or above.

The Class of 2019 graduated on Sunday, May 26, in a ceremony concluding the College's 207th year. Freeman Hrabowski, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, delivered the Commencement address, advising graduates to "keep asking the hard questions and keep thinking of things we've not thought about - about social justice and inequality and seeking the truth." Hamilton's 490 graduates now join an alumni body of more than 23,000, many of whom have made important contributions to business, the professions, government and the arts.

Some 3,275 students were awarded degrees during the University of Vermont's 218th commencement ceremonies. Darren Walker who presides over the Ford Foundation, one of the world's most influential social justice philanthropies and one of the largest private foundations in the United States, delivered the address.

Select students have been named to the Spring 2019 Dean's List at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.

Students from Trine University's main campus were named to the President's List for the Spring 2019 term. To earn President's List honors, main campus students must complete a minimum of 15 hours and have a grade point average of 3.750-4.000.

The UVM History Department inducted 21 undergraduate and 3 graduate students into the national Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society on April 16, 2018. Our chapter at the University of Vermont, Alpha Alpha Psi, was chartered in 1982. Undergraduate students who have completed at least fifteen credit hours in History courses at UVM with a 3.6 grade point average and an overall grade point average of 3.4 are eligible for membership. History M.A. graduate students are required to maintain a 3.75 grade point average in their graduate studies. Induction ceremonies are held annually in April.

The Hamilton College Academic Year (HCAYS) in Madrid, Spain, offers students the opportunity to develop true linguistic proficiency and to experience the many facets of Spanish life. Through personal contact with the culture, language, ideals, and customs of another nation, participants step beyond the familiarity and comforts of their own environment to gain a new perspective on international affairs and a greater respect for and understanding of another people.

The following students have been selected for inclusion on the Dean's List for academic achievement during the Fall 2018 semester at St. Lawrence University.

Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its fall 2018 Dean's List. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must achieve a minimum QPA of at least 3.500 for the term, provided that, in the term they have successfully completed courses totaling a minimum of 15 credits.

At Gettysburg, students use the opportunity to study globally to pursue diverse paths in multiple areas of study. Over 200 students studied globally in the Fall 2018 semester, representing over 30 majors in over 25 countries.

Students at Lasell College were named to the Dean's List for their strong academic performance in the fall 2018 semester.

To be named to the dean's list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

Bates College graduated 473 students from 39 states and 42 countries on May 27, 2018. Cumulatively, the Class of 2018 performed 82,000 hours of community service, exemplifying Bates' commitment to community learning and civic action.

The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that 25 student athletes have earned a spot on the 2018 Assumption College Field Hockey team.

The UVM Student Research Conference is a showcase of student research at every level and across every discipline within the university.

Members of the Class of 2018 received their diplomas May 20 at Colgate University's 197th Commencement. Richard Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations delivered the keynote address.

Some 3,072 students were awarded degrees during the University of Vermont's 217th commencement ceremonies. Alexander Nemerov, alumnus and one of the nations' leading art historians and scholar of cultural history, delivered the address.

The following students have been named to the dean's list at Bates College for the winter semester ending in April 2018.

On Feb. 27, Wesleyan celebrated the success of students in the Endeavor Foundation First-Year Seminar Essay Contest. Winners received $200 awards and a book, selected by their course instructor. The First-Year Seminars are writing intensive courses that introduce students to a variety of topics and writing associated with various disciplines. Students learn the methods used to collect, interpret, analyze and present evidence as part of a scholarly argument. Faculty teaching these classes highlight the type of writing associated with their respective disciplines, and help students develop, compose, organize and revise their writing.
